PEP!IN is proud to uplift the important work published in the April 2025 issue of the DIA Global Forum:“A Framework for Improving Maternity Healthcare in the US (and Elsewhere)”
This article outlines a powerful framework for addressing the U.S. maternal health crisis—especially the unacceptable disparities impacting Black birthing people. It offers a vision grounded in evidence, collaboration, and community-informed care.
We are especially honored that this article features the voices and leadership of several individuals deeply connected to PEP!IN’s mission and work:
Dr. Melva Covington, Co-Founder of the BACH Think Tank, Founder of AGAPE Strategic Solutions of Maryland, and Co-Founder and Managing Director of PEP!IN.
JaMor Hairston, Founder of Healthlytics Consulting Group and a PEP!IN advisor helping to guide data-driven solutions for health equity
Dr. Seanna Thompson Mt. Sinai Health Systems leader and maternal health advisor to PEP!IN
Judith Walker, Founder of NurseLynx and a PEP!IN partner supporting culturally competent nursing and care navigation
Dr. Leslie Farrington, co-founder of the Black Coalition for Safe Motherhood and a strategic partner in PEP!IN’s maternal health initiatives
The BACH Think Tank reflects what we at PEP!IN deeply believe: that improving maternal health outcomes requires evidence-based strategies, culturally responsive care models like full-spectrum doula support, and the intentional integration of digital innovation and community trust.
As an organization working at the intersection of research, engagement, digital innovation, and advocacy, we stand in full support of the BACH Framework and the collective vision it presents. Together, we can build a future in which birthing families are not just cared for—but seen, heard, and empowered.
As we say at PEP!IN, inclusion is not an afterthought—it’s the foundation.
