People Empowering People for Inclusion Now (PEP!IN) is thrilled to announce our new platinum-level partnership with Clinical Trials For All, a global initiative dedicated to increasing clinical trial participation through education, engagement, and empowerment. This partnership represents an important step forward in our mission to enhance health equity, representation, and informed decision-making in clinical research.
Why Clinical Trials For All?
Clinical trials are essential for developing new treatments, medicines, and therapies. However, significant disparities exist in clinical research participation, limiting the applicability of research outcomes across diverse populations. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2020:
75% of clinical trial participants identified as White, while White individuals represent approximately 60% of the U.S. population.
Only 8% of participants were African American, despite representing 13% of the population.
11% of participants were Latino/Hispanic, who represent 18% of the population.
These disparities highlight a critical gap. Without diverse representation, clinical research cannot fully address the health needs and outcomes of all communities.
